Janusz Tylman (b. 1947) is a celebrated Polish composer, pianist, and the creator of musical scores for numerous theatre productions and films. He became widely known to audiences as the charismatic pianist performing on a black grand piano in the popular TVP2 show "Śpiewające fortepiany" ("Singing Pianos", 2001–2005), and as a vocal coach on the show "Jak oni śpiewają" ("How They Sing").

He is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Warsaw. Over the course of his long career, he has collaborated with, among others, the "Akademia Wilanowska" Association. His artistic output extends beyond the Polish market — he has composed music for and taken part in productions of plays and musicals staged in the United States and Sweden, among other countries.

Janusz Tylman's theatrical debut came in 1980, with the musical score for the play "Broniewski" at the Dramatic Theatre in Wałbrzych. Since then, he has composed music for dozens of theatrical productions (including "Edith i Marlene", "Sinatra", "Aznavour", "Człowiek jak człowiek", "Hymn miłości według Edith Piaf", and "Tango Notturno") as well as Teatr Telewizji (Television Theatre) productions. He has also appeared on stage as an actor and as an accompanist.

His body of work also includes music for film and television productions, among them: "Ślubna gorączka" (2013), "Kamienica na Nalewkach, czyli szlagiery żydowskiej ulicy" (2000), "Król i królik" (2007), "Dokument podróży" (1998), "Aleksander Kamiński <Kamyk>" (1993), and "Zbiory" (1974).

In his signature series "Romantic Piano", Janusz Tylman presents a nostalgic, elegant, and emotionally rich piano sound. His distinctive style combines virtuosity with accessible melody, creating a space ideal for relaxation and quiet reflection. His official discography and sheet music collection include the albums "Romantic Piano Vol. 1" and "Romantic Piano Vol. 2", as well as the sheet music volumes "Sheet Music for Piano Vol. 1" and "Sheet Music for Piano Vol. 2".

The piano music of the "Romantic Piano" cycle draws on the Romantic tradition of Frédéric Chopin — his preludes and nocturnes — while remaining distinctly contemporary, at times almost pop in spirit: melodic, expressive, and easy to hum, with some pieces reaching for modern sounds and harmonies. Most of the compositions were written as musical settings for Ostry Dyżur Poetycki, a series of poetry evenings at the National Theatre in Warsaw that Janusz Tylman has hosted since 2000. Both albums, "Romantic Piano Vol. I" and "Romantic Piano Vol. II", were recorded in September 2025; recording and mastering were handled by Emil Jeleń, the composer's collaborator of thirty years.
